Congratulations to meaning consultant Sheila Wilson who completed her first Half Marathon yesterday. Her time to cover the 13.1 mile (21 km) course along the coast of at Folkestone, near the famous white cliffs of Dover and the Channel Tunnel, was an impressive 2 hours, 2 minutes and 25 seconds and a personal best by a margin.
“I’m very proud of myself,” said Sheila. “I expected to be about ten minutes slower. I’m a relative beginner at running I started jogging in January and at that time one mile in about quarter of an hour was my limit. I’ve trained really hard.”
Sheila took up running as part of a personal aim to lead a healthier lifestyle. Her first goal which she set in January was to complete the British 10K race in central London on 1 July 2007. Having done this (in 58 minutes), she set herself the new goal of a half marathon. “I’m really enjoying running and entering races,” commented Sheila. “I have made lots of new friends, gained an amazing sense of achievement and lost far more in kilos than the total weight of my five-year-old daughter.”
Over 600 other runners also finished the Folkestone Half Marathon with the overall winner getting home in an amazing 1 hour 11 minutes and 10 seconds.
